Why Focus on Women?

Studies show that there are several differences between men and women that may impact the financial security of women.

  • Women have shorter working careers and lower lifetime earnings than men
  • Women are less likely to have employer-provided retirement plans
  • Women have lower tolerance for risk
  • Women experience greater financial losses following divorce
  • Women are more likely to be widowed than men
  • Women are less likely to participate in household financial decision-making than men
  • Women struggle to balance the demands of career and motherhood

The combination of these factors creates special financial planning needs. At Stoker Ostler, we understand the financial needs of women and are equipped to meet those needs. From financial education to personalized portfolio management, Stoker Ostler has the knowledge to serve the unique financial needs of women. Whether you are a working professional, a retired widow, or going through a transition such as retirement or divorce, we understand your needs and are here to help.

Our Seminars

Our seminars give an overview of financial issues affecting women at each stage of the life cycle.

  • 20s: getting an education and job skills, building good credit, dealing with finances in a relationship, and the advantages of a long time horizon when investing.
  • 30s-50s: keeping their job skills current, controlling their spending, protecting their assets, being wise consumers, and making retirement savings a priority
  • Later years: warned of unscrupulous salespersons marketing inappropriate products to seniors, the erosive effects of inflation, and the importance of understanding Social Security benefits
  • All ages: shown why “one size fits all” advice may not fit, why it’s important to protect personal and financial information, and why they need to be careful in selecting financial professionals.
  • Additional seminars focusing on specific topics will be created based on participant feedback.
